Delivery, Returns & Refunds Policy

Overview

This policy covers delivery, returns, refunds, and cancellations for all products and services sold by Akajiofo Press, including physical books, digital products (eBooks/PDFs), and newsletter subscriptions.

1. Physical Books (Paperback)

The City He Never Returned To (ISBN: 978-1-291-77949-3) is printed on demand and shipped worldwide through our fulfilment partners.

Delivery

  • Fulfilment partners: Amazon and Lulu. Both ship worldwide from the production facility nearest to you.
  • Production time: 3–5 business days (each book is printed after order placement).
  • Delivery times (estimates):
    • Belgium & EU: 3–10 business days
    • UK: 5–12 business days
    • US & Canada: 7–15 business days
    • Rest of world: 10–21 business days
    • Shipping costs: Calculated at checkout by Amazon or Lulu. For orders placed directly through Akajiofo Press, shipping is charged at €10 per book. Orders of 31+ books qualify for free shipping (contact us for bulk orders).
    • Customs & duties: International orders may be subject to import duties or taxes. These are the responsibility of the customer.
    • Shipping address: Please ensure your shipping address is correct at checkout. We are not responsible for orders delivered to incorrectly provided addresses.
    • Tracking: Provided by the retailer after dispatch.

Note: Distribution to the Middle East is temporarily suspended.

Returns & Refunds

14-Day Right of Withdrawal (EU Customers):
In accordance with EU consumer law, you have the right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days of receiving the book, without giving any reason. To exercise this right, contact us at info@akajiofopress.com with your order number.

  • Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer unless the item is defective or incorrect.
  • The book must be returned in resalable condition.
  • Refunds are processed within 14 days of receiving the returned item.

Damaged, Defective, or Wrong Items:

  • Damaged or defective books: Contact us within 30 days of delivery with your order number and a photo of the issue. We will arrange a replacement at no cost.
  • Lost or stolen packages: Contact us within 30 days; we will work with the carrier to resolve.
  • Wrong item received: Contact us immediately for a replacement.

2. Digital Products (eBooks, PDFs)

Delivery

All digital products are delivered electronically. Immediately after successful payment, you will receive:

  • An email with download links to your purchased files
  • Access to your files through your account dashboard (if logged in)

Formats included: EPUB, MOBI, and PDF.
Delivery time: Instant — within minutes of payment confirmation.

If you do not receive your download link within 30 minutes, check your spam folder or contact us at info@akajiofopress.com.

Refunds

Due to the nature of digital goods, all sales of eBooks and downloadable content are final once the download has begun. If you experience a technical issue with your download, contact us within 14 days and we will help resolve it or provide a replacement file.

3. Newsletter Subscriptions

Delivery

Paid subscriptions to The Speculative Circle and The Speculative Repair provide access to exclusive content, delivered directly to your email inbox. You will receive:

  • A welcome email with login instructions
  • Content delivered directly to your email inbox
  • Access to the subscriber-only archive

Billing: Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as selected.

Cancellations & Refunds

  • Free subscription: No payment, no refunds applicable.
  • Paid subscription: You may cancel at any time. Access continues until the end of your current billing period. If you cancel mid-cycle, no pro-rata refunds are issued for partial periods.
  • Refunds are provided only for: duplicate or erroneous charges, or technical issues that prevent access and cannot be resolved.

4. General

This policy applies to all products sold by Akajiofo Press. We reserve the right to update this policy as new products are added.
